‘ABHAY’
THE FEARLESS
A Martyr never dies due to the enemy fire, he dies when his
nation forgets him –AN UNKNOWN PATRIOT
Leading the way and
illuminating the path, paying homage to our martyrs and respects to the
Veterans every year, are the Rotaract
students of KC College. Like last year Rotaract President Shivam Agrawal and
his council of students under the able
guidance of their Principal Hon. Rtr. Dr
Hemlata Bagla organised a program to felicitate the Veterans from the
Armed Forces during the evening of the
26 Nov, a day that is a Remembrance Day for Mumbai, when she lost 166 of her children in a horrific terrorist strike. KC college invited Mr MS Bitta, the
Chairman of the AIATF (All India Anti-Terrorist Front) as the Chief Guest along
with Mr SP Ahuja, President of AIATF Mumbai. Mr Bitta is an Icon who has lead
the way in Anti-terrorism and has survived 14 lethal attacks on him. KC College
also invited Cdr Vijay Vadhera, President of Mumbai Chapter of the Navy
Foundation as their Guest of Honour.
Despite
their holidays, the college left no stone unturned to put their best foot
forward to put up an exceptional show
that was appreciated by all invited
veterans of the three services. After the arrival of the Guests, Mr MS
Bitta, Mr SP Ahuja and Cdr Vijay Vadhera were escorted onto the Stage.
Traditional Lighting of the Lamp was performed by the honoured and
distinguished guests. The Principal in the opening addressed, in her warm
sonorous perfect diction, welcomed the Guests on this august occasion and
explained the essence behind the ‘Abhay’ theme. Mr MS Bitta in his address,
narrated in his forceful style his love for his motherland and how he survived
14 terrorist attacks on him during the pre-1984 Punjab unrest. He praised the
Armed Forces for the sacrifices rendered for our motherland. Departing from
last year’s format of a Panel discussion, the students this year resorted to a
more meaningful interactive session with the Veterans. The Master of Ceremony
Rtr Sajani and Paree exhorted students to write down questions for the
Veterans. The informative session lasted
for about an hour wherein the Veterans narrated their service experiences and
action encounters during the 1971 war. (Videos attached Below)
The Veterans were individually felicitated by Cdr Vijay Vadhera and the
VP Rotaract Students Rtr Shivam, Sajani, and Paree after which a scintillating
colourful Group Dance was performed by the young energetic students of BMC High pointSchool ‘Chikitsak’ and another couple of
awesome dance performances by the KC students.
The mesmerising
Cultural program was followed by a delectable
supper for the veterans and dignitaries, well looked after by the smart
students of KC. The Principal’s presence added to the grace as she interacted
with the veterans. She was delightd to meet KC College Alumnus Mrs Meena Dutta
who graduated and Post graduated from KC College 30 yrs ago. Her other 2
sisters Kunj Bali and Nishi Kumar were also KC alumni.
A very well organised event for the Veterans of the Army,
Navy and Air-Force by KC College, the memories of which shall be cherished in the footprints of time
to come by all those who graced the occasion. The Veterans specially thanked
the Principal Dr. Hemlata Bagla, Rtrs Shivam Agrawal, Jay Sotta, Akshita Shah, Sajani Aras, Vineet Wagh, Dhir
Jain, and Suryam Jain and other appointees who
toiled hard to make the programme a grand success.
Dosto,
Shahidon ki chittaon par har baras lageinge
mele,
Sarhad par mitne walon ka yehi akhri nishan
hoga.
Kudos to KC College for remembering and felicitating the Veterans and
paying homage to the Martyrs in successive years.
Jai Hind
