AGM 2025
The jubilation of interacting with like-minded Veterans is indeed priceless, as was evident during the overwhelming gatherings of Veterans and Veer Naris during the Veterans Day events in early Jan this year. The 4th Veterans Day Parade made NFMC showcase the Solidarity and Bonhomie Of Mumbai Veterans of all three services. The Cricket Tournament, the Sailing Race and the Octogenarians and Veer Naris Gala at IMSC, not only brought the Veterans close together but acted as a bridge to bring the serving and retired fraternity closer together on the same pedestal.
The Annual General Meeting of the Naval Veterans of Mumbai Chapter at IMSC Colaba, has always been a much awaited and sought after affair organised in Apr / May every year. This year it was planned for Sunday 08th Jun, the NF AGM/ Sammanvay having been accomplished at Delhi on 21/22 May 2025.
Early Bells for the AGM were sounded on 8th Mar with a tentative schedule of AGM 08th Jun, with Previous yrs Balance Sheet and MoM as attachments. Nominations were invited for the post of Hon. President and Hon. Treasurer, as Cdr Vijay Vadhera, NM(G), had completed his two terms as President after 11 yrs as Secy NFMC, while Arjuna Awardee LtCdr Farokh Tarapore, VSM had finished his 5th terms as Treasurer. Besides new Agenda points for the AGM were called for.
PROCEEDINGS
The Annual General Body meeting of the Navy Foundation Mumbai Chapter was held at 1200 hrs. on Sunday 8th Jun 2025 in the Sea-Lounge of IMSC and was attended by about 300 Veterans, Spouses and Veer Naris. The Spouses were entertained at the Drona Hard with exquisite rounds of Aloo-Chat and Aloo Pattis. It was also heartening to meet our Senior Veer Nari Mrs Ranjana Auditto, who came all the way from Pune to attend the AGM. Hard copies of Quarter Deck 2024 were made available to Veterans and Veer Naries at the IMSC Lounge. The PLD and Lunch to follow, post AGM was exquisite, sumptuous and multi-cuisine and drew much appreciation from the Veterans and Veer Naris. A melodious Karaoke session post lunch was the Icing on the Cake on the AGM Day.

RAdm Anil Jaggi, FOMA, RAdm Sandeep Verma, CSO(P&A) and Surg RAdm KM Adhikari, CMO graced the occasion after the AGM to interact with Veterans over PLD and Lunch.
A CPR Demo had been arranged by Cdr Vijay Vadhera, President NFMC for the benefit of all Veterans, spouses and Veer Naris present, at 1130 hrs prior to commencement of AGM. Maj (AMC) Vikram and Maj Arjun elaborated upon when and how to perform the CPR in case of an unfortunate Cardiac emergency, while awaiting medical help. The audience doubts were well addressed by the Medical Officers. The Demo was appreciated by all Veterans.
President NFMC gave a brief regarding the new Capt (TS) notionally promoted by NHQ, as per the AVSC recommendations, and requested our former CNS Adm VS Shekhawat to present Capts stripes to the NFMC members present who had been recently promoted including 4Veer Naris and 1NOK of the Capt (TS) who had left for the heavenly abode. The Previous AGM’s Minutes and Balance sheet was approved during the AGM. There were no Old Agenda points and Nil had been received for the current AGM.
The next item was honouring the Nonagenarian. LtCdr YK Satija (40088-H)(MUM-0032), whose 90th Birthday had been celebrated in grand style by CM Colaba on 19 May, was presented the 90 yrs Sea Cap sent by NHQ (DESA). Capt Raj Mohindra, the Founder Secy of NFMC extended the honour.
Cmde Srikant B Kesnur, VSM and Capt (TS) Rajinder Dutta (10th time in succession) were awarded cash award of Rs 5000/ each for their articles published in Quarter Deck 2024 as per the themes promulgated by DESA. VAdm IC Rao awarded Cmde Srikant, while Raj received it from President NFMC. Cmde Kesnur exhorted the Veterans to share with him their anecdotes of Navy with what ever photos, for him to add in his articles for media publicity.
The Hon Secy brought out that nominations were sought 4 months in advance for the post of Hon President and Hon. Treasurer as Cdr Vijay Vadhera, NM(G), had completed his two terms as President after 11 yrs as Secy NFMC, while Arjuna Awardee LtCdr Farokh Tarapore, VSM had finished 5 terms as Treasurer; 17 yrs and 16 yrs as NFMC Office bearers respectively. Since no fresh nominations had been received, it was reflective of the efficient work ethics of the Core Committee resulting in their re-election as President and Treasurer for another term of 3 yrs each. The two have set a record in Navy Foundation, difficult to be surpassed by any chapter. The proposals were approved amidst thunderous applause. The president thanked all the Veterans for attending the AGM in large numbers making it a historic event, for his and Hon Treasurer’s re-election, reposing faith in the present Managing Committee. He thanked the HQ WNC and associated establishments for total support to the Veterans fraternity at all times.
In his concluding address the Hon. Secy, Capt Raj Dutta congratulated Cdr Vijay Vadhera, the President and LtCdr Farokh Tarapore, Hon. Treasurer of NFMC, for their well deserved re-election for another term unopposed. He spoke on the noble efforts of the CMs of various areas under Mumbai region being administered by them for effective functioning of NFMC. He thanked the Veterans for contributing to the Society in their own manner and conveyed Best wishes to Veterans in times to come.
The Vote of thanks was Proposed, RAdm PK Sinha , who complimented the Managing Committee for the dedicated honorable work being done and wished them all the very Best. There was a big round of applause. Vote of Thanks was seconded by RAdm DN Thukral
GALA INTERACTION
The meet and greet session then started amidst rounds of Mocktails and drinks and sumptuous Eats. Meena kept clicking groups of Veterans and Veer Naris meeting after a long time, capturing the prized moments to be frozen in footprints of Time. It was pleasure and honour to interact with elderly Veterans and my coursemates Cdr Pankaj Bhardwaj, Capt HPS Sodhi, Cdr Narendra Shrivastava, & Capt SD Singh with their good ladies. Everyone that I happen to interact with had a word of praise for the NFMC Management Committee under the leadership of Cdr Vijay Vadhera. The multi-cuisine Lunch was a delectable pursuit topped up with exceptionally delicious Kulfi, along with Faluda.
Soon the Karaoke session was initiated and the Ladies homed on to the dance floor swaying to the melodious numbers being crooned. (Pics videos below) The young and energetic Karaoke performers comprised Cdr Vijay Vadhera, Capt Raj Dutta, Cdr Ritesh Menon, Cdr N Tripathi, Mrs Rachna Tripathi, Mrs Mukti Ghosh, Mrs Archana Gupta, Capt Ravi Chauhan & Mrs Veena Chauhan and Mrs Archana Rai. The icing on the cake was sonorous multi-instrument medley play by Cdr Brahm Swaroop .
A remarkable day revelled in magnificiently. Awaiting next interaction with Veterans during the forthcoming Navy Week celebrations…Cheers ! Agar koi hum Veterans se poochhe, ke zindagi mein kya khoya aur kya paya ? Toh hum be-jhijhak kahenge, ‘Jo khoya vo hai hamara bachpan hamari nadaani, aur jo paya wo hai hamare Rab ki Meharbani ’… !!!
