‘TWO  ADORABLE  LOSERS’

“All the world's a stage,
And all the men and women merely players;
They have their exits and their entrances,
And one man in his time plays many parts,
His acts being seven ages. “
 --  William Shakespeare, (As You Like It)

“If you were born with the ability to change someone’s perspective or emotions, never waste that gift. It is one of the most powerful gifts God can give—the ability to influence.”
―
Shannon L. Alder

                Staging of the second play in Mulla Auditorium on 18 Aug 2019 was entrusted to FOMAG staff, after a resounding success of ‘Barff’ on 07 Jul at the same venue, that was spearheaded by Cdr Vijay Vadhera, Secy NFMC, suggesting the idea to  Mr Ashwin Gidwani of AGP World.

          ‘Out of the Box’ Productions was roped in for  yesterday’s play ‘Two Adorable Losers’. This production house established in 2011 by young enthusiasts, aims to deliver qualitative original performances to its viewers. Their Vision is to bring out plays to all States and UTs of India, with a Mission to set an example for the youth to pursue theatre as a career as writers, directors, actors and producers. It’s the youngest & the fastest growing theatre companies of India, performing plays not only in metropolitan areas of the country, but also cities & small towns where Theatre has never stepped in before.

THE  PLOT

 ‘Two Adorable Losers’ is a down to earth 2 act play of emotional interlocking of a weak statistics student seeking a months tuition from his eccentric Professor, whose deep Orriya accent laced with emotions of frustration, empathy and fun  comes to the fore and is the high point of the play. How the student and the teacher help out each other ; the Professor sharpening the student’s skills in memorising  the mathematical formulae and the student in turn fine-tuning the statistics professor’s diction for his college Anniv speech,  is the crux and theme of this 2 hour play with a 15 mins intermission. The student is the child star Darsheel Safary of ‘Tare zameen pe’(2007), who has recently graduated in BCom from HR college, Mumbai. The Professor’s role has been professionally enacted by 23 yrs old Abhishek Pattnaik, who is also the script writer of this engrossing play. Abhishek later revealed that he chanced upon the idea for the play theme by watching his father’s Orriya diction closely, since childhood. His switching over to imitate the Vice-Principal’s dialogues speaks highly of his acting prowess. All in all,  a highly engrossing play you are kept tuned to in the student-teacher interaction.

         It was indeed kind of the Western Naval Command to extend an invitation to the Veterans of NFMC. The Secy had promulgated for volunteers keen to witness the play and forwarded the list of Veterans attending to CSO to FOMAG.

         VAdm S Naithani, DGNP (MB) with his good lady Mrs Manju Naithani graced the occasion as the  Chief Guest in the almost House full Mulla Auditorium. After the play the cast and crew along with select senior officers, Veterans and ladies  were invited at the Command Mess Foyer for Wine and Cheese.  It was a gettogether of Joy, Fun and bonhomi with the young cast of the Production house, actors - Darsheel (22), Abhishek Pattnaik(28), Suketu Shah (27). Abhishek Pattnaik told us that he is an alumnus of KV-II. The Event manager Anurag Khanna had organised the 2 Act play for WNC. It was heartening to observe the coming together of student Darsheel and his English Professor of HR College, Veer Nari Mukti Ghosh at the Command Mess interaction. Mukti is an enthusiastic Lady who has been to both the NFMC foreign tours - the Tri-nations tour to South-East Asia last year  and Europe recently.

      It was a Fantastic Day well relished by the Veterans in the cradle of WNC. Looking forwards to more plays in the Mulla Auditorium in future….

Shano Varuno … Jai Hind.

=========================

 PS- After meeting Darsheel, Meena Bakhshi Dutt went back into the nostalgia of 12 yrs ago, when she was the HRT (Home Room Teacher) of a notorious students of std-III ’D’ in LSA (Lakshmipat Singhania Academy) Kolkata. Incidentally Darsheel Safary (Ishaan NandKishore Awasthi) too was a student of std-III ‘D’ in ‘Tare zameen pe’. LSA had introduced the ‘Star Class’ award for 2007-08. There was no hope for Meena’s class III-D and all the staff had ruled out her class. But within a month under her guidance, the class bagged the ‘Star Class’ Award of the year and was presented the Trophy by their Principal Mrs Meena Kak. Later Meena's punch line in the staff room was, “When Ishaan Awasthi of III-D can reform, Why can’t my III-D” …Her LSA students have completed their graduation with Darsheel (Last two Photos below)

....Jai Ho LSA.
