Veer Nari- She sacrificed her better half for your better future – Indian Army

The primary Aim of Navy Foundation is Welfare of Veterans and Veer Naris. NFMC has been following this objective in letter and spirit. NFMC is endowed with an added quality Empathy, that it displays in abandon. The quality that quintessentially conveys that I understand your pain, grief and condition. Early this year it had planned the Get-together of Veer Naris of Mumbai in IMSC and started planning on the nitty gritty commencing with organization of Carpools for them Area-wise by the committee members. What a lovely Sammelan it was on 27^th Mar of 37 NFMC Veer Naris, including 92 yrs young Veer Nari Mrs Kamla Bhushan accompanied by her smart daughter Neerja Malik and Veer Nari Mrs Poonam Gulati who drove all the way from Pune. The Catwalk by the Veer Naris with 9 elegant ladies gracefully strolling the ramp of Sea-Lounge of IMSC was indeed the show stealer that was followed-up by the enthralling Corner elimination dance, Passing the Parcel and the famed Musical Chairs. Post the Sumptuous multicuisine banquet Lunch the afternoon was enlivened by their melodious voices echoing the ambience of IMSC. A few committee members and their ladies joined the Veer Naris in Karaoke Crooning after the sumptuous delectable Lunch topped up in wrappings of Cold Ice-creams of different flavours with additives of one’s choice.

Among the guests who were present to honour the Veer Naris were, Cmde Sridar Ramaswamy (LOIC NAVPEN), Cmde Ranadeep Bose (LOIC NAVPAY), Mrs Rupali Bose, LtCdr Abhimanyu Shekhawat, Veer Nari Poonam Gulati from Pune.

The MC of the Day, Cdr Raj Dutta briefed all present in his rich baritone about the events to follow. There were 9 contestants for the Catwalk, who stole everyone’s hearts and set the Sea-Lounge aflame.

judges Mrs Ranjana Auditto, Mrs Rupali Bose and Cmde Sridar selected the 3 Finalists Alka, Mukti and Kunj, who performed another round of Catwalk for selecting the Winner. The elegant Veer Nari Mrs Mukti Ghosh, a Prof of English Literature with the motto “Live Life Queen Size” bagged the top honours closly followed by Mrs Kunj Bali and Mrs Alka Wanikar.

The Next Game was the Corner elimination Dance that brought all Veer Naris to the center stage to tap their feet together. Veer Nari Mrs Usha Patro from Kharghar Won the Hamper. The game of passing the Parcel was won by Veer Nari Poonam Gulati, who had driven-down from Pune. The Last game of Musical chairs was won by Veer Nari Sutapa Das from Dombivli.

The delectable Lunch was a multicuisine affair and one had a choice of Indian and Chinese with exquisite Pizzas and mouth-watering Chaat thrown in. The Desserts corner remained busy, with the chefs preparing the flavored ice-creams, adding various dry-fruits of choice and crushing them to churn-out their specialties made to order.

At the scheduled 1430 hrs Cdr Vadhera initiated the Karaoke session in his melodious voice, ‘Pukarta Chala hoon main’. The session of Karaoke comprised of about a dozen Bollywood Solo and duet songs, mostly of the bygone era. The crooners who lent their melodious voices to enthrall the audience were Mrs Mukti Ghosh, Sutapa Das, Sudha Chopra, Archana Rai, Anuprita Paranjape, Manju Rawat, Mamta Kankan, Cdr Ritesh Menon, Cmde Sridar, Cdr Manjul Mayank and Raj. There were Solos as well as duets. Veer Nari Sutapa Das received the Best Veer Nari Singer Award and Mrs Mamta Kankan with her performance bagged the Best CMs spouse Singer Award.

Mrs Ranjana Auditto, Dr Kanta Mukherjee, Mrs Sunita Vadhera and Mrs Poonam Gulati gave away the awards for various entertaining Games. Cdr Vadhera then presented the NFMC Golden Sailboat as Nari Shakti Award to Dr Kanta Mukherjee (for her unstinted Social Work for the Society welfare and environment preservation endeavors) and Official Photographer Meena Dutta for her marvelous photos and videos compilation for NFMC Blogs.

Mrs Anahita cheerfully presented a Rose each to all the Veer Naris even as they bid Sayonara to each other. The glint in their eyes conveyed their appreciation to the organisers as they warmly shook hands prior departure. It was a funtastic Day conceptualized and organized by President NFMC Cdr Vijay Vadhera, NM(G) and assisted by all committee members and their charming better halves. The success of the event can be gauged by the fact that each and every Veer Nari Whatsapped their appreciation and rang up to Thank the President after returning home. It has enthused the NFMC Committee to make Veer Naris get-together an Annual event.
